Math 112 Frequently Asked Questions1. Do I need to buy a calculator? Which one? No, you don't need to buy a calculator for math 112. Calculators will not be allowed on math 112 exams. There will be occasional homework problems that require the use of calculators, but a basic scientific calculator will almost always be sufficient. Some of your homework will be submitted online, by computer. The computational ability of the computer will be helpful for many of these assignments, but again no graphing calculator is required. 2. Which textbook is used? Where do I buy it? The book is Single Variable Calculus Early Transcendentals w/ ACP Vol 1, by Stewart. Note there are several calculus books available by Stewart. To make sure you get the correct one, I recommend you buy it at the BYU bookstore. If you do a little searching, you will probably find that you get the best deal on your textbook at the bookstore as well.
