Some Courses I've taught

  Calculus and Analytic Geometry
  Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations
  Vector Analysis
  Matrix Analysis
  Advanced Calculus
  Point Set Topology
  Real Analysis
  Complex Analysis

Areas of research

My primary area of research is Partial Differential Equations and Inclusions.  I work on abstract methods for determining whether problems of this sort are well posed. Lately, I have been working on the mathematical theory of problems from contact mechanics including friction, wear, and damage.

Other interests

I am usually interested in topics in analysis, especially measure and integration, functional analysis and such things.

Lecture Notes And Books

Here is a pdf  file of my calculus book with a shorter collection of exercises and no solutions manual and answers to exercises. The published version is described at http://www.worldscibooks.com/mathematics/7917.html.   Calculus, Applications and Theory Here is page 170 of the published calculus book. It was defective.   page170 . Here is Page 178 of Volume 2 of the calculus book. It has an obvious error.

  page178 .

Here is a pdf  file of Notes for Math 214. This is mostly a subset of the material in the calculus book consisting of multivariable calculus and a brief treatment of linear algebra..   Math 214 Notes

Here is a pdf file for a more elementary linear algebra book. This one presents everything for the first time in terms of the row reduced echelon form and emphasizes row operations. I have made many changes recently. There is a solutions manual available on request.   elementary linear algebra book Also, here are alternate versions of the exercises along with their solutions.   LinearAlgebraProblems   LinearAlgebraSolutions . These files were computer generated using Scientific Notebook. The source files from which these were generated are available if anyone would like to use them and modify them as desired.

Here is a pdf  for lecture notes for math 302 .Fall 2009  Math 302 lecture notes

Here is a pdf  file for the latest version of a linear algebra book. I have recently fixed the exercises to make more sense and added some material on the QR algorithm and the rational canonical form.   linear algebra book

Here is a pdf  file for a single variable advanced calculus book. It is mostly done.   Single Variable Advanced Calculus

Here is a pdf  file for a multvariable advanced calculus book. I am still working on it.  Many Variable Advanced Calculus

Here is a pdf  file of the latest version of my book on topics on analysis.. It contains a review of advanced calculus and then discusses  measure and integration, and complex analysis at a more advanced level than the other complex variable notes on this page. It also includes the main theorems about Sobolev Spaces  and interpolation theorems in Banach space as well as other abstract topics. I am still working on it..  Topics

Here is a pdf file for math 541-641 which is based on the latest departmental outcomes for these courses. Math541-641

Here is a pdf  for lecture notes for math 641 and 642. These are a subset of the above Topics book.   Math 641-642 Lecture Notes

Here is a pdf  file of notes for a seminar on stochastic integration and probability. It is a subset of the large topics book.   notes
